Acetylsalicylic acid enhances the activity of anticoagulant drugs and in case of concomitant corticosteroid use or alcohol intake it multiplies the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. It adds to the effects and adverse events of non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, and to the effects of sulphonyl carbamide derivatives, methotrexate, sulfonamides (or their derivatives) and of valproic acid. Increases plasma concentrations of digoxin, barbiturates and lithium compounds. Reduces activity of aldosterone antagonists and loop diuretics, antihypertensive drugs and gout-suppression medicines that boost excretion of uric acid.
